Foundation

Establishment of Widex Technology Development Ltd - Widex Solar was founded as a one-stop solar system solutions provider, beginning its focus on turnkey solar energy project development in Hong Kong and have since grew presence globally.

2008

First Government Project

Provided Solar PV systems to the Hong Kong Government, marking a significant early milestone in public sector renewable energy adoption.

2010

NGO Community Projects

Enhancing community-based sustainable energy initiatives by carrying out solar energy projects for NGOs in Hong Kong, including Zero Carbon Village YMCA-Wu Kwai Sha, YMCA -NT Centre, and Outward Bound Hong Kong.

2014

Expansion to China

Expanded business operations into China, broadening its regional presence and influence in the solar energy market.

2015

Hong Kong’s Largest Ground PV Project

- Installed largest ground-mounted PV system in Hong Kong’s at that time at Siu Ho Wan Sewage Treatment Works (1.1MW) with over 5,000 PV panels over 11,000 sqm.

- Commissioned in Dec 2016. This showcases advanced solar technology and large-scale project capabilities of Widex and well recognized by the Hong Kong Government.

2016

Entry into Taiwan

Expended business operations into Taiwan, further diversifying its regional footprint in the Asia Pacific solar market.

2017

Expansion into Japan

Expanded into Japan, strengthening its international presence and expertise in diverse solar energy markets.

2018

Feed-in Tariff Launch

Hong Kong first launched Feed-in Tariff (FiT) and that marks the beginning of the rapid expansion of Widex, including signing of a partnership with Li Po Chun United World College of Hong Kong for the largest school-based solar power system at the time.

2019

ISO Certification

Granted the ISO9001 Management System Certificate for excellence in electrical and solar energy system services.

2021

HKUST Project

Installed largest-scale solar power system in Hong Kong at the time with 8,000 solar panels across over 50 campus locations in HKUST, including academic buildings, student residences, and sports facilities that produces about 3 million kWh annually, equivalent to the electricity consumption of several hundred households.

2022

PAG Acquisition

PAG, a leading alternative investment manager focused on the Asia-Pacific region, acquired the majority stake of main operating company of Widex Solar Hong Kong. The project was then financed by Natixis Investment Managers, with additional financial support from Fubon Bank.

2023

Southeast Asia Expansion: Singapore & Vietnam Offices

Set up of Singapore and Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City) office with local expertise, strong pipeline and well recognized local partners.

2024

SEA Regional Growth

Continued expansion of businesses in Singapore and Vietnam that built a strong presence in SEA alongside with well managed solar energy projects with regional clients.

2025

Hanoi Office Launch & Exclusive Partnerships:

Set up of Hanoi office and signed exclusive partnership with Industrial Parks in Vietnam.
